General Information Only

Safety Warning

If You Smell Gas or a CO Alarm Sounds

Leave the building immediately. Don’t use light switches, phones or anything that could create a spark inside. Call your gas utility or 911 from outside.

  • Turn off electrical power at the breaker and shut off gas and water before working on any appliance.
  • Work involving gas lines, burners, venting, combustion, high voltage or sealed refrigerant circuits should be done by a licensed technician.
  • Water heaters can cause scalding and contain pressurised hot water — never cap or plug a temperature & pressure (T&P) relief valve.
  • In the US, purchasing and handling most refrigerants requires EPA Section 608 certification.

Codes, Permits & Warranties

Local building codes and permit requirements vary. DIY repairs or non-approved parts may void a manufacturer’s warranty. Always check your equipment manual, warranty terms and local regulations before starting work.

Calculator Results

Our calculators provide estimates based on your inputs and simplified methods. Actual loads, sizing, airflow and energy savings depend on many factors, including insulation, air leakage, climate, ductwork and installation quality.
